Do you see the difference?
The specialist of persuasion found out that it is easier to influence one’s thoughts than to exert a direct impact on his behaviour.
In other words, let’s not try to convince somebody to do something but to make a decision. That’s why the next group o presuppositions refer to attention, consciousness and to thoughts in general. These presuppositions are based on the fact that the assumptions are treated as an axiom and the question refers to the fact if this person noticed this fact or not.
· Are you aware of that you will considerable benefit from signing this contract? (the assumption – the benefits will be considerable)
· Did you pay attention to the fact that this idea is highly unfounded? (the assumption – this idea is unfounded)
· Have you thought which option suits you most? (assumption – one of these option suits you most)
· Are you aware of the fact that such behaviour will lead to the catastrophe? (assumption – the behaviour will lead to the catastrophe)
· Do you see how big the difference between these two proposals is? (assumption –the difference is big)
· Have you wondered that we could enjoy ourselves very well together? (assumption together we could enjoy ourselves very well)
As you may notice also in this case one’s attention is drawn to the answer if something was seen, realized and thought. The process of looking for the answer begins only if the suggestion is accepted.
I think its high tome you made some exercises concerning this language model.
I hope you realize that if you overuse it and accumulate many models in one place it won’t look natural.
Write a dozen or so sentences using the presuppositions concerning consciousness and attention.
And when you do it I am sure you will begin to notice the difference.
