The genesis of NLP

How did it start?

Have you wondered recently what makes some people amazingly effective in what they are doing?

Because I am sure that you know at least one person who can fascinate you and whom you admire.

How do they do that?

In the 70s of the previous century two young men - Richard Bandler and John Grinder posed the same question.

They were particularly interested in three people:

  1. Milton Erickson – a brilliant hypnotherapist, considered the father of non-directive hypnosis after whom it was named Ericksonian hypnotherapy,
  2. Fritz Perls – the Gestalt therapy creator,
  3. Virginia Satir – a psychotherapist, known especially for her approach to family therapy.

All these people attained exceptional success in their work.

Bandler and Grinder didn’t confine themselves to admire the effect, they wished to get to the source.

And they did succeed!

In this way the model of effective performance was created. They called it Neurolinguistic Programming.

Neuro – as it refers to the manners in which people code information,

Linguistic – because linguistics and the influence words have on our minds are very important,

Programming – since it assumes that effective standards of behaviour can be easily adapted (programmed) by anyone.

It does work!

It appears that people who are learning these techniques achieve results that are comparable or in some cases, even better than the prototype, which I wish were also yours.

I think that the amount of information concerning the NLP genesis is sufficient, as history is not the main issue in here.
